Sexpectations

—The Following is not my text—

The best sex should last between seven and 13 minutes, and even three-minute sex is “adequate”, a major survey of US experts has concluded.

But Australian sex therapists commenting on the new research say most men Down Under wanted it to last considerably longer while most women were “not bothered” if it was over with fast.

Intercourse lasting between three and seven minutes was deemed “adequate”, but anything less was “too short” and beyond 13 minutes was “too long” (more…)

The truth about spinach

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

— The following is not my text — In popular folklore, spinach is a rich source of iron. In reality, a 60 gram serving of boiled spinach contains around 1.9 mg of iron (slightly more when eaten raw). A good many green vegetables contain less than 1 mg of iron for an equivalent serving. Hence spinach does contain a relatively high level of iron for a vegetable, but its consumption does not have special health connotations as folklore might suggest.

The myth about spinach and its high iron content may have first been propagated by Dr. E. von Wolf in 1870, because a misplaced decimal point in his publication led to an iron-content figure that was ten times too high. In 1937, German chemists reinvestigated this “miracle vegetable” and corrected the mistake.

Best times to take protein FOO

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

After checking out a few random sources, the following are the best times to take your protein shakes:

  • In the morning as soon as possible + breakfast
  • 1 hour before your workout (not as common suggestion)
  • 1 hour after your workout
  • Before going to sleep
  • If you’re taking a protiein shake with caffeine in it like mine, its probably best not to take it before sleeping

    Sauces: 1, 2, 3.

Energy, Daily Calorie intake & Losing Fat

    Saturday, January 19th, 2008

    Yo FOO

me n nammy were at work arguing about some BS, and have learnt a few new things.

  • First, did you know this
    1 Calorie = 1000 calories
[Calorie with a big ‘C’ is a kilo calorie]
  • Conversion rate:
    1 Calorie = 4.184 kilo Joules [kJ]
  • An average adult should consume the recommended 1500–2000 Calories (6–8 MJ) per day.
  • To lose fat, or encourage weight loss: deduct 500 Calories (2,000kJ) from your recommended average via a combination of dieting and exercise
  • A 20 minute medium paced Jog burns approx 293 Calories [1232 kJ]

    Sugar…

    Thursday, December 6th, 2007

I was wondering how many grams of sugar are in a teaspoon…

So i googled that shit… 4.2 grams often rounded to 4.

That means a 375ml can of Coke has 10 teaspoons of sugar… a bottle is nearly double that. I drink Pepsi Max.

Body weight & Sleep deprivation Connection

    Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

The following text is not my own…
When we don’t have enough sleep, our energy is very low. This can trick the brain into thinking it requires more food to replenish our energy stores.

To make matters worse, the effects of sleep deprivation can lessen the body’s ability to process glucose efficiently leading to an increased tendency to put on weight. This could also lead to an increased risk of diabetes.

Lack of sleep also produce higher levels of (more…)
